This white away shirt, with its black diagonal sash, black sleeves and collar trimmed in gold, and red cross crest, carries the club's gold "Que Honra Ser" script on the back of the neck, a nod to Vasco da Gama's traditional away identity.

Gary Medel (#17) arrived at São Januário midway through the season and quickly took on the captaincy, anchoring the midfield alongside forward Pablo Vegetti.
