This dark navy away shirt with its neon yellow shoulder panels was a striking departure from Dortmund's famous yellow and black home colours, reflecting Nike's bold mid-1990s design language.

Managed by Ottmar Hitzfeld, the squad that season featured Matthias Sammer, Michael Zorc, Andreas Möller and Jürgen Kohler. Sammer's commanding form from the back that year underlined why he would go on to be named Ballon d'Or winner in 1996.
